Antonio Galbier Receives Physics Scholarship at Buffalo State

2011 Nov 22

Antonio Galbier of Jamestown, NY, received the Robert A. and Dorothy Stender Sweet Physics Scholarship at Buffalo State College to pursue the study of physics. Galbier, a graduate of Maple Grove High School, is a sophomore majoring in physics at Buffalo State.

"I chose physics because I love the dialect in which our universe speaks to us, and I wish to fluently speak its language," Galbier said. "This scholarship gives me the opportunity to focus on my academics."

The scholarship was established in May 2011 through a gift from Dorothy Sweet. Sweet wanted to honor her late husband, Robert, by establishing a scholarship in the field in which he excelled. Thanks to Sweet's generous gift, five annual scholarships of $2,500 are given to students with a declared major in the Physics Department who meet academic eligibility criteria. Each scholarship will be renewable for up to four years.

Buffalo State offers two bachelor's degree programs in physics and several physics education programs. The Physics Department also offers the Physics Three-Two Engineering program, which allows students to complete two bachelor of science degrees-one in physics, one in engineering-within five years.
