Ariel Roberta Peters Participates in International Political Science Conference

2012 Feb 16

Ariel Roberta Peters, of Tonawanda, NY, recently participated in the 2012 State University of New York Model European Union conference (SUNYMEU) at the University of Exeter, Great Britain. Peters is a graduate of Tonawanda High School, and is currently studying political science at Buffalo State. Peters was one of ten Buffalo State students to take part in the conference.

At SUNYMEU, more than 140 students from around the world joined together to simulate a European Council meeting. The experience allows students to learn more about the European Union, deepen their understanding of politics, and meet with other students from around the world.

Throughout the simulation, Peters played the role of Peter Tempel, a permanent representative of Germany.

"The conference gave me the chance to practice the skills I have learned academically, and experience a whole new realm of politics," Peters said. "It was unique because it allowed students from many different countries to interact."

Each year, Buffalo State provides students with access to hundreds of international programs sponsored by Buffalo State, other SUNY institutions, and National Student Exchange campuses.
