Harley Wiertel Helps Create History Kits for the Historical Society

Harley Wiertel of Cheektowaga, NY is learning about American culture and identity through her American Identity in Transition course at Buffalo State. Wiertel is an elementary education major at Buffalo State. She is a graduate of Cheektowaga Central High School.

Wiertel is helping to create a history kit for teachers to borrow from the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, which will provide teaching materials about the refugee experience. She is also helping to create a website about the diverse cultural restaurants found in Western New York.

The project is part of the Year of the City at Buffalo State.
