Stephanie Hanson Helps the Needy through Alternative Spring Break

Stephanie Hanson of Arcade, NY took part in Buffalo State's Alternative Spring Break, a program offered by the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center.

Doe, who is majoring in urban/regional analysis and planning, was among a group of students who stayed at Mission House in Niagara Falls from March 23 to March 28. The participating students served lunch to clients of Community Missions and took meals, toiletries, and toys to families staying in low-cost motels through the Magdalene Project.

Alternative Spring Break provides students with the opportunity to serve others while learning first-hand about the realities of poverty. Students from any major are welcome to participate.

Buffalo State's Volunteer and Service Learning Center, part of the college's Career Development Center, offers students many opportunities to learn through community service.
