Buffalo State

Eight Buffalo State students took part in a Mental Health First Aid training in October. The training, facilitated by community partner Compeer, covered a variety of mental health issues and questions. Students who completed the training received a three-year certifiction in mental health first aid.

Several graduate students from the Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration (HESAA) program presented at the College Student Personnel Association of New York State's (CSPA-NYS) annual conference in Rochester, N.Y. CSPA-NYS is the statewide conference for professionals working in higher education and student affairs administrative roles.

Buffalo State College juniors in the Health, Nutrition, and Dietetics Program were involved in a collaborative training with D'Youville College's Dietetics Program and several community nutrition partners, including the Cornell Cooperative Extension, Eat Smart NY, and CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health).

Lucas Colon was chosen to be featured in the "Students Who Soar" series at Buffalo State. "Students Who Soar" celebrates students whose achievements are an inspiration to their peers and to future students.

Three Buffalo State students were chosen to participate in Google's 10-week summer bootcamp, Applied Computing for Higher Education.

Tanner McMullen was chosen to be featured in the "Students Who Soar" series at Buffalo State. "Students Who Soar" celebrates students whose achievements are an inspiration to their peers and to future students.

Nick Jones was chosen to be featured in the "Students Who Soar" series at Buffalo State.

Kyannah Muhammad was chosen to be featured in the "Students Who Soar" series at Buffalo State. "Students Who Soar" celebrates students whose achievements are an inspiration to their peers and to future students.

An elite group of Buffalo State students are McNair scholars. The McNair Scholars Program prepares qualified, eligible undergraduate students for doctoral studies by providing them with research opportunities, stipends, faculty and staff mentoring, and preparation for graduate studies.

The following students recently participated in the 2012 State University of New York Model European Union conference (SUNYMEU) at the University of Exeter, Great Britain.
